Activ-8 Club - Bradley Squash Court
The former squash courts at Bradley are currently being developed into
a specialist inclusive facility for the development of sports and activities
for people with special needs and for the benefit of the local community.
Barry Hughes has been running a Judo Club for individuals with special
needs for over 10 years. Julie Hughes has been running a Trampolining
Club for 5 years. They have catered for both children and adults with
special needs from throughout the local community. They have strived to
provide high quality and much enjoyed sessions at a variety of premises.
The current premises at Bradley Squash Courts require significant refurbishment
and adaptation, but will eventually provide excellent facilities both
for people with disabilities and able-bodied adults and children from
the local community to participate in a wide range of sports.
The aim of the Activ-8 Club will be to offer opportunities to anybody
with a disability to experience a wide range of sports, therapeutic and
fitness activities. It will look to provide for all age groups and manner
of disability and similarly for able-bodied members from the local community.
The Club will look to maximise the potential of its members. It will
provide incentives for motivation including competitive opportunities
where appropriate.
Activities will be developed to include-:
- Martial arts including judo
- Trampolining
- Stretching / Gentle exercises
- Soft play equipment
- Outdoor play equipment
- Specialist equipment for use by disabled and able bodied people alike.
Watch this space!
Activ-8 hope to be open for use early in the New Year.
