Your Guide to Wrexham Town Centre
Bellevue Park
The park was extensively re-furbished to it's original condition (Edwardian Period) partly funded by the Heritage Lottery, Urban parks Project, Welsh Development Agency and European Regional Development Fund and opened in June 2000.
The park contains a large number of mature trees which make up the shaded lime avenues that radiate from the bandstand area. There are also areas of new tree planting and ornamental shrub beds which were recently replenished as part of the Heritage Lottery re-furbishments. A landscaped rockery containing plants from the Edwardian period leads up to the to bowling greens.
Llwyn Isaf
The Llwyn Isaf is now a green space in the heart of the town and the outside living room for Yale College students.
Originally there was a house on this site known as Ypsytty Ucha (Upper Hospital) - a name hinting at perhaps a past connected to friars or monks. In the 19th Century the house was called Llwyn Isaf and became home to the vicars of Wrexham.

Shopping In Wrexham
Wrexham is nothing less than a haven for shopaholics - the biggest and best retail centre in North Wales. Thousands of people from across the region choose Wrexham for the variety and quality of its shops and its convenient town centre parking.
It provides a modern shopping experience with traditional values. Smaller shops, boutiques and arcades in places such as Bank Street and College Street complement brand-new retail centres with famous High Street names.
Much of the town centre is pedestrianised, making it easy to get around. 250,000 square feet of shopping space has been added in the last few years and the difference as you walk around is quite incredible.
St Mary's Cathedral
Between the Reformation in Tudor times and the 1829 Catholic Emancipation Act, Catholics suffered varied but continual discrimination. Initially Wrexham's Catholics met near Seven Bridges Lane, now Market Street, to worship.
One of Wrexham's Catholics was Richard Thompson, ironmaster and colliery owner. He built the first Roman Catholic Chapel in the town in 1828 in King Street, but only after tricking the owner into selling as he would not sell to a catholic. Thompson opened the chapel upstairs, while passing the building off as his home.
St Giles Parish Church
St Giles is considered the greatest medieval parish church in Wales. Whilst steeped in history and abounding with treasures and delights for the visitor, it also remains a busy and popular church with the congregation committed to worship, and acknowledging the presence of God in our daily lives.
The Great Tower is one of "the Seven Wonders of Wales", and inside, a ceiling adorned with 16 colourful angels playing instruments and singing, greets the eye.
North Wales Police
Incorporating the counties of Flintshire and Wrexham, Eastern Division is a diverse mix of agricultural land and urban areas including two of the largest industrial estates in North Wales. As Wrexham Town is the only Football League club in North Wales, its large fan base makes extra demands on local police resources.
