A magnificent marcher fortress completed in 1310 and now a stately home
of grand style, Chirk Castle has elegant state rooms, elaborate plasterwork,
superb Adam style furniture, tapestries and portraits. The Castle grounds
include eleven acres of gardens, with roses, flowering shrubs, Rhododendrons,
Azaleas, rockery and Yew topiary. The castle and gardens are set in 460
acres of parkland with three concessionary walks across the park. Managed
by the National Trust, the Castle is open to the public during the main
summer season.
