Gresford Book of Remembrance Online

The Gresford Colliery Disaster occurred on September 22nd 1934. After a long campaign, a memorial was built to the dead miners. The memorial was dedicated on November 26th 1982 in the presence of the Prince and Princess of Wales and the surviving relatives of those miners killed in the disaster.

An official Book of Remembrance to honour the dead miners was created to mark the occasion. The original document is kept at the A.N. Palmer Centre for Local Studies and Archives at Wrexham Museum. The book was designed and inscribed by the Hilton Studio, Lichfield.

A virtual Book of Remembrance and Memorial Gallery are available online. We have also set up an online memorial book for you to add your own memories of and responses to the Gresford Colliery Disaster.
