Wrexham Magistrates have fined Tesco Stores Limited £7,600 and ordered them to pay £2,191 prosecution costs for selling out of date food at their store at Crescent Road, Wrexham.

Livestock keepers are urged to be vigilant and regularly check and examine any susceptible animals for symptoms of disease.

Foot and mouth Disease - Movement Guidance and Licences

In line with recent veterinary advice the Welsh Assembly Government has decided to allow limited movement of animals susceptible to Foot and Mouth Disease under strict bio-security arrangements to address immediate issues in line with the Contingency Plan.

Foot and Mouth Disease - GB wide national movement ban

Following the investigation of suspected Foot and Mouth Disease at Egham on the Surrey/ Berkshire border, a GB wide national movement ban of all pigs, cattle, sheep and other ruminants has been imposed. Throughout the country no animal movements are allowed except under licence.

Foot and Mouth Disease Update

From midnight on 23rd August 2007 the Foot and Mouth restriction zone covering Wales was lifted. This does not mean a complete return to normal business and trading. Vigilance and high levels of bio-security remain key priorities.
