Fireworks - Good Neighbour Code
Wrexham Community Safety Partnership is launching a Good Neighbour Code in the run up to November 5th, the aim of this code is to encourage responsible fireworks usage and consideration for other residents, particularly the elderly and vulnerable. The code outlines tips for responsible firework usage, for example, purchasing fireworks with a visual rather than noisy effect, finishing firework displays before 11pm and purchasing fireworks from reputable sellers that comply with British Standards and are suitable for the venue in which they are to be discharged.
A copy of this code will be distributed by Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators, Police Community Support Officers and will be made available throughout Wrexham County Borough, at supermarkets, post offices, estate offices and libraries.
Andy Lewis, Chief Housing & Public Protection Officer comments, "The Partnership is keen for people to continue enjoying fireworks, we have developed this Code to help prevent fireworks and firework displays affecting the enjoyment of other residents particularly vulnerable neighbours such as the blind, visually impaired, the elderly or residents with pets and young children. By following this and the Firework Safety Code we hope to ensure that everyone enjoys a safe bonfire night".
