Mr Howe, of Heol Pedr, Gwersyllt pleaded guilty at Wrexham Magistrates Court to selling and possessing over 1,000 DVD's, a computer and associated goods. The goods had a potential street value of over £5,000. He was sentenced to a 6 months suspended sentence and told to pay £425 prosecution costs.
The prosecution was brough by Wrexham Council's Trading Standards Department after he was spotted at Mega Car Boot Sale in Rhyl which was followed by a search of his home.
Andy Lewis, Wrexham's Chief Public Protection Officer, said:
"Mr Howe's sentence is a reflection of how seriously the courts take the issue of counterfeit goods. We believe people considering dealing in such items should be aware of the powers of the courts in relation to such offences. Members of the public have a right to buy legitimate goods from legitimate traders. Trading Standards Officers will continue to investigate traders who they believe are trying to fool the public into buying what are clearly counterfeit goods."
