National Food Safety Week

 

The 14th Foodlink National Food Safety Week was 12-18 June 2006. The annual National Food Safety Week is the point in the calendar for highlighting the importance of food safety and the basic principles of food hygiene.

This year Debbie Rogers, Food Safety Officer delivered food safety educational talks to Years 7 and 8, secondary school food technology pupils focusing on the 4C’s for food safety:

  • Cleaning
  • Cooking
  • Chilling
  • Cross Contamination

Schools were invited to involve their pupils in designing posters to illustrate the importance of the 4C’s for food safety.

The Food Safety Team were delighted to present prizes to the winners of the poster competition.

  • First prize, an MP3 player was awarded to Briony Jones, Year 8, The Maelor School, Penley.
  • Second prize, a £15 High Street voucher was awarded to Luke Hughes, Year 8, Bryn Alyn High School, Gwersyllt and
  • Third prize, a £10 High Street voucher was awarded to Lucy Jones, Year 8, The Maelor School, Penley
