Information for Professionals
The National Assembly for Wales (NAW) have produced the 'Framework for
the Assessment of Children in Need and their Families' (2001) to confirm
their commitment to delivering better life chances to disadvantaged and
vulnerable children. More commonly known as the 'Assessment Framework'
it is intended to provide a foundation for policy and practice for all
professionals who manage and provide services to children in need and
their families. It is also intended to facilitate a proactive approach
to service delivery and develop corporate and inter-agency responsibilities
and working and is reflected in the NAW document 'Working Together to
Safeguard Children' (2000)
A series of leaflets have been produced to explain the Assessment Framework
to children, young people, parents, carer's and professionals. Each leaflet
has contact details if you require more information. Full copies of the
leaflet can be downloaded by using the hyperlink at the bottom of this
document.
