The Wrexham Unitary Development Plan took a step closer to being adopted when Council gave it the go ahead to progress.

The distinct character of Cefn Mawr, one of Wrexham's most historic villages, has been recognised by Wrexham's Executive Board as members designated part of the village a Conservation Area.

Guidance available for new Freedom of Information Act

A new Act that gives people the right to obtain information held by Wrexham County Borough Council comes into being next month. From the 1st January 2005 information held by the Council for its purposes as a local authority can be made available upon request, except under certain circumstances.

Wrexham Youth Service, Acton Detached Team presents Christmas ‘Band Wars’

Following the success of the last ‘Band Wars’ in October, where four local young bands appeared in Central Station and battled it out to be crowned ‘Band Wars’ winners in front of 250 young people, the event has been arranged again.

Waste Not Want Not This Christmas

Wrexham Council are encouraging residents to recycle more of their Christmas waste as the festive season approaches in order to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill.

Planning Application Received for construction of Resource Recovery Centre

Wrexham Council's Planning Department has received a planning application for the building of a Resource Recovery Centre on part of the former Owens Corning Plant on Bryn Lane, Wrexham Industrial Estate.

Get Home Safely!

Revellers in Wrexham are being urged to check whether the taxis they get into during the Christmas season are safe. Passengers who travel in unlicensed vehicles are not covered by insurance and the car will not have passed a taxi test, which may make them unroadworthy.

Ice rink opens in Queen's Square

Wrexham's ice rink has been officially opened. A webcam, nicknamed 'Icecam', has been set up overlooking the ice rink. There is a spot marked on the outside of the rink where you can stand and be seen all over the world!

2,000 logged on for Children in Need Concert

A live webcam on Wrexham Council's web site allowed an 2,000 extra people to watch the Children in Need concert, broadcast from Llwyn Isaf Green, Wrexham, live via the internet. Nicknamed "Pudseycam" for the event, the camera is a feature of Wrexham's site that is proving very popular with visitors.

Food Safety at Christmas

It's that time of year again. The fridge will be overloaded with food for Christmas and the New Year festivities, and catering for large numbers is a major challenge. Extra pressure is put on the cook and the risk of food poisoning rises significantly.

Partnership Launches Device To Prevent Spiked Drinks at Christmas

A new campaign to prevent drinks being spiked in pubs and clubs in Wrexham has been launched. Several thousand brightly coloured bottle stoppers will be handed out to revellers next week to coincide with the festive party season - part of this year's Safe Drinking Campaign.

Father Christmas will be arriving in Wrexham on Thursday evening (2nd December) in a beautiful hand-made sleigh, pulled by Queenie the reindeer and complete with lanterns and over 200 jingling sleigh bells.
