School promises to deliver as minister officially opens Rhosnesni High School

A brand new secondary school that opened its doors to pupils last September is providing educational facilities fit for the 21st century its headteacher said today. As the Minister for Education and Lifelong Learning visited Rhosnesni High School today, to officially open the (Thursday, April 28th) multi-million pound facility, Headteacher Bernard Knowles said the new school provided the ideal environment in which pupils could learn, develop and enjoy their education.

Launch of "On a High Note"

A major new competition, sponsored by the Cooperative Group and the Community Safety Partnership was launched today at Darland School, Rossett. "On a High Note" an anti drugs music competition, is aimed at 11 - 16 year olds who attend either a school or a youth club in Wrexham.

Brum to be Raffled for the Mayor's Charity Concert

The Mayor of Wrexham, Councillor David Rogers, has been presented with "Brum" the popular pedal car to be raffled at his Charity Concert. Brum, a children's favourite after the television programme, has been donated by Linda Tomlinson of the toystall Childhood Days in the Butcher's Market and is worth over £200.

Pupils at Ysgol Clywedog began their Summer term in their new-look buildings today, bringing to a close a three year, multi-million pound project to re-organise secondary education in the town.

Wrexham Council send their congratulations to Wrexham Football Club as 2-0 winners of the 2005 LDV Vans Trophy at the Millennium Stadium. Wrexham Football Club players already have a lot to be proud of this season and winning the LDV Vans Final at the Millennium Stadium is something that everyone in Wrexham is proud of.

Following last night's Full Council Meeting at the Guildhall, Labour member Cllr Neil Rogers resigned as Leader of the Council. The new Leader is Liberal Democrat Cllr Aled Roberts, the member for Ponciau.

Council Sets Budget and Council Tax for 2005/06

Wrexham Council has agreed its Budget and Council Tax for 2005/06. The Budget agreed for the provision of services throughout the County Borough area is £169,759,705. The services include Education, Social Services, Housing, Transport and Engineering.

Capture the Day at Scientriffic

Organisers of the Wrexham Science Festival want to capture the atmosphere of ‘Scientriffic’ – an event they call the ‘best family fun day out in Wales’, and to do so, they have 50 disposable cameras ready for budding photographers. Scientriffic (March 19) will be held between 10am – 5pm on NEWI’s Plas Coch Campus in Wrexham.
