Enforcement Officers Go Undercover

The recent campaign to reduce dog fouling has found that irresponsible behaviour is continuing in one of Wrexham’s most well kept parks. Alyn Waters Country Park which is hoping to be awarded Green Flag Status again this year has been targeted by officers from the Councils Environmental Enforcement Team. The team praised the majority of dog owners for their responsible behaviour but found that some dog owners are only too prepared to walk away.

Andy Lewis, Wrexham's Chief Housing and Public Protection Officer, said:

“It seems incredible that people will leave fouling in such a well maintained park. Our officers have even seen people pick up the waste in a bag and throw the bag into the bushes! This park is well provisioned with bins and is equipped to supply bags to dog walkers if they happen to forget their own supplies. There are simply no excuses for leaving fouling behind in this or any other area.”

Uniformed patrols continue to take place throughout the area and the enforcement team have also used officers in plain clothes to deter offenders. Fifteen people have received £75 penalties for dog fouling offences in the park over a three month period.
