Minister to Launch Compact Agreement
Partnership working to improve the health, social care and well being of residents in Wrexham takes a step forward on Thursday when Welsh Assembly First Minister, Rhodri Morgan, launches a new Compact Agreement - "Working Together Towards Common Goals".
The Agreement has been put together by Wrexham Council, Wrexham Local Health Board, North East Wales NHS Trust Board and the Association of Voluntary Organisations in Wrexham. It is a key document which clearly sets out the relationship between the partners and their responsibilities and accountabilities and provides a framework for working together more effectively.

All the organisations share the common goal of working together for the benefit of individuals and communities in Wrexham County Borough and acknowledge that by working in partnership more can be achieved than by working in isolation.
There are around 2000 voluntary and community organisations which aim to provide services to the community using the skills and expertise of their members. AVOW is the organisation that brings a large number of these groups together to identify common goals and agree action.
The North East Wales NHS Trust provides a range of acute, community and mental health services to Wrexham and neighbouring areas.
The Wrexham Local Health Board has responsibility to work with local and national agencies and local people to improve the health of the community. It's role is to commission primary, community and secondary health services on their behalf according to the local health needs identified.
Wrexham Council has specific powers and duties to provide and deliver services to the local community, ensuring that public funds are used appropriately and responsibly. It also acts as community leader with the power to promote social, environmental and economic well being of the community it serves.
The Agreement represents the shared commitment of the partners to improve the health, social care and well being of residents living in Wrexham.
Dr Gwyn Roberts, Chair, Wrexham Local Health Board:
"The Compact will serve to cement the good working relationship we currently have with our partners and support our work together for the benefit of the people of Wrexham"
Lloyd Fitzhugh, Chair of North East Wales NHS Trust Board:
"The Wrexham Compact is a welcome and practical demonstration of the commitment to partnership working that exists between members of the Health Community in this area. By implementing the compact we will have the opportunity to share our skills and work together to actively promote the health and well-being of our residents."
Bob Hargreaves, Chair of Trustees of AVOW said:
"AVOW on behalf of the voluntary and community sector in Wrexham is pleased to be a co-signatory to the new Wrexham Compact which reaffirms the importance and value of the established principles of partnership working in Wrexham"
Neil Rogers, Leader of Wrexham County Borough Council said:
"This Agreement brings together the public, community and voluntary sector to help us achieve common goals. It builds on already successful partnerships and contains clear guidelines that will help us address the health, social care and well being needs of the people of Wrexham County Borough."
