A Big Thank You!
Wrexham County Borough Council would like to thank everyone who turned out for the Children In Need concert on Friday evening. The night was a fabulous opportunity once again for the rest of the UK to see just how generous and supportive the people of Wrexham can be.
Schools and Council staff raised an amazing £17,000 for the charity. The cheque was presented live on television on Friday evening by member of staff Jim Duffy who won a staff raffle to hand the cheque over to television presenter Josie D’Arby. The concert was featured live throughout the night on BBC Wales showing the crowd soaking up the atmosphere despite the minus 4 temperatures on the night.
A big thank you also goes to those organisations and individuals who donated items to ensure a smooth and successful event including: Lidl, Sainsbury’s, Asda, the Welshpool Printing Group and calligrapher Gwilym Roberts. Thanks also go to our staff, representatives from the Emergency and support services and BBC Wales who have worked hard to bring this great concert to the town and make it happen.
It certainly was a night to remember - the combination couldn't be better, a great concert that will also benefit thousands of children and young people across the UK, including Wrexham and the rest of North East Wales.
We hope that those who attended the concert or watched from the comfort of their armchairs on BBC television enjoyed it. Thank you once again for your enthusiasm and support.
