Christmas Band Wars
Wrexham Youth Service, Acton Detached Team presents Christmas 'Band Wars'
Following the success of the last 'Band Wars' in October, where four local young bands appeared in Central Station and battled it out to be crowned 'Band Wars' winners in front of 250 young people, the event has been arranged again.
A group young people from little Acton who organised the last event have again been working with Youth Workers from Wrexham Youth Service to organise the Christmas 'Band Wars' on 22nd December 2004.
The evening is open to 14 to 21 year olds and will begin at 7pm and carry on until 11pm. Four local bands will be performing including Hyphenated, Sweetleef, Nomad and another band that are yet to be confirmed. The cost of the event is £3.
David Hughes (Doc) who is a detached Youth worker in Acton says “we have engaged with young people and found that a number of young people within the area are in bands but are finding it difficult getting venues to play.
The last 'Band Wars' in October was very successful as it was well attended and was organised by young people for young people”.
David also wishes to remind young people attending the event that town will be busy in the run up to Christmas and to make sure you have transport arrangements sorted in advance for getting home.
It is hoped to carry on these events throughout next year, with the winners of each heat playing a grand final in Bellevue Park over the summer.
If you are a young band interested in playing in a future 'Band Wars' please contact Doc on (01978) 351274.
