Early Warning of Car Park and Road Closures
The Children in Need Concert on Llwyn Isaf on 19th November will cause some disruption to town centre car parking as the BBC prepare for the evening of live entertainment from Llwyn Isaf.
In order to assist the BBC with the arrangements for the event, Wrexham Council are advising people who use the Library Car Park that it will have reduced availability between 13 November and 22 November inclusive and the remainder of the spaces will be for those vehicles displaying a disabled badge only.
The town centres other car parks at Eagle's Meadow, Crescent Road, Waterworld, People's Market, St George's Crescent, St Giles, Market Street, St Marks (NCP) and Island Green, will be unaffected and the closure is not expected to cause any major problems.
On the evening of the concert all of Wrexham Council’s car parks will be available including the Multi Storey at the People's Market which will be open until 11.00pm. A number of the car parks have secured status and there is no charge for parking after 5.00 pm.
Chester Street between the Library and the 7 Stars Hotel will also be closed between 5.00 pm and 11.00 pm on the 19th November to allow safe pedestrian access to the event and drivers are asked to avoid this area.
Rob Wilkinson, Chief Transportation and Engineering Officer, said:
"I understand that this may cause some inconvenience to drivers wishing to park in the town centre. However, I would like to reassure everyone that there is sufficient car parking spaces at various locations within the town centre to ensure that there are no problems during this time. I would like to thank people in advance for their co-operation and I know the event itself will more than make up for the inconvenience"
