Capture the Day
Organisers of the Wrexham Science Festival want to capture the atmosphere of ‘Scientriffic’ – an event they call the ‘best family fun day out in Wales’, and to do so, they have 50 disposable cameras ready for budding photographers.
Scientriffic (March 19) will be held between 10am – 5pm on NEWI’s Plas Coch Campus in Wrexham.
Glen Lloyd, one of the Festival organisers said
"It’s always been difficult to capture the essence of the day – there’s so much going on all over the campus. This year we’ve got nearly 70 mainly interactive displays, presentations and shows – more than ever before.
The challenge is always to record and do justice to the day itself – to try and capture sights - like smiles on children’s faces and all the amazing things to touch, try and learn from. We hope that visitors to Scientriffic will take up the challenge. The first 50 people or families who contact the Festival Office on 01978 262696, will get cameras. At the end of Scientriffic, the cameras will be handed back to us for processing. A selection of the photographs will be displayed in Wrexham Library during April and on our website. In addition there’ll be a first prize of £50 and two second prizes of £25 for the best or most creative photos.
We hope the photographs in some way reflect the many positive comments we usually get from visitors to Scientriffic and are confident this will be the case.
Anyone who wants to take up the challenge to capture the event on film, should phone the Festival Office and do it as soon as possible as we anticipate a terrific response."
