Bryn Tabor Officially Opened

The official opening of Ysgol Bryn Tabor, Coedpoeth, took place today (26th June 2007) and marked the end of the reorganisation of primary education provision in the area. Wrexham Councillor and Lead Member for Children and Young People, Arwel Jones, performed the opening ceremony and was pleased at how well staff and pupils had settled into their new home.

Works to refurbish the school have resulted in an extension for additional accommodation to the hall which is also equipped with stage lighting and sound equipment. Throughout there are new floors, wals and ceilings and each classroom has fully integrated ICT infrastructure and a dedicated ICT suite. Eah classroom has an associated practical area with work units, sinks and cooking facilities.

Extensions have been built to provide additional library, toilet and Early Years facilities. The building also has a CCTV system that covers the whole site. The main playground has been extended and the Early Years playgrounds have been equipped with soft play areas and educational playground markings. The kitchen has been fully refitted with new equipment. To complete the works children will sit on new chairs and work on new tables!

Headteacher, Mr Robert Lloyd Jones, said:

"I am pleased to welcome everyone here today to join us for the official opening of our new school. Everyone has settled in very well to their new surroundings and we are all looking forward to a bright future in an environment that is both fit to learn in and fit to teach in."

Cllr Arwel Jones, Lead Member for Children and Young People in Wrexham said:

"I am delighted to be here today to mark the official opening of this Welsh Medium School. Our children and young people deserve the very best environment that we can provide for them in order for them to achieve their full potential and this new building provides that. We now turn our attention to Rhos where work has already started on a new Ysgol Hooson which marks the beginning of improvements to primary education in Rhos."
