Brum to be raffled for Mayor's Charity Auction
The Mayor of Wrexham, Councillor David Rogers, has been presented with "Brum" the popular pedal car to be raffled at his Charity Concert.
Brum, a children's favourite after the television programme, has been donated by Linda Tomlinson of the toystall Childhood Days in the Butcher's Market and is worth over £200.
The Mayor when he went to see the car for himself said:
"This is one of the most sought after gifts we have ever been able to raffle. Many children would love to own this beautiful car and no doubt, parents and grandparents will feel the benefit to charity will more than justify the cost of the 50p ticket. I would like to thank Linda for her gift which is a tribute to her generosity."
Linda Tomlinson said:
"I have been trying to find the right charity to donate this lovely car to and when I heard the Mayor's charity supported a Children's Charity through Children in Need and the Shooting Star Unit at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, it seemed the perfect solution. Many people have already been to see the car at my stall and everyone is very impressed with it. I'll be sad to see it go but know it will find a good home through the Mayor's Charity Concert. I have worked for a local charity and know how much the donations of local people mean to their fundraising."
Anyone wanting to see the car can do so at the Childhood Days Toy Stall, Butcher's Market, Wrexham until Friday 22nd April. Raffle Tickets are available from the Tourist Information Centre, Queen's Square, Wrexham.
The Mayor's Charity Concert takes place on the 22nd at 7.00 at the William Aston Hall. Performances will be given by pupils from Ysgol Rhiwabon, Maelor School, Ysgol Clywedog, Rhosnesni High and St Josephs R.C. School. Tickets cost £5.00 and are available from the Tourist Information Centre 01978 292015.
Tickets for the raffle will be available from the Tourist Information Centre cost 50p each.
