Classical Orchestral Masterworks perform at the William Aston Hall
BBC National Orchestra of Wales will return to Wrexham as part of their North Wales Tour and perform a selection of tantalizing music from the world's greatest composers on Saturday 5 November at 7.30pm.
Taking up the baton for the evening will be the exceptional Russian conductor, Vasily Petrenko, who at the age of 29 has just been appointed as the RLPO's youngest ever music director.
Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No 3, or the 'Eroica' as it is better known will be performed and flies high in ranks of iconic works. The thunderous opening chords are some of the most recognizable in all music, and its soaring melodies will embed themselves in your mind for days to come. Audiences never fail to enjoy this phenomenal music.
Taking centre stage is the cellist, Gautier Capuçon nominated as the "New Talent of the Year" by the French "Victoires de la Musique" in 2001. He recently toured with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and has performed with many of the leading French orchestras as well as the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. He will be performing Camille Saint-Saëns' Cello Concerto No 1, which will dazzle with its relentless energy and myriad of passion, drama and lyricism.
The pizzazz of the cello concerto and the power of Beethoven's work are complemented by Alun Hoddinott's French Suite.
