Sixth Form Students Shine in 2005
Students in Wrexham Schools have received excellent A level and AS level results.
Although not all the results have been analysed yet, early indications suggests an overall pass rate of 96.8% which is an improvement of 1.4% on the final overall pass rate for 2004 and is in line with national pass rate of 96.8% for Wales and 96.2% for the UK.
Two thirds of the students gained higher grade passes (A-C grades) which is very pleasing.
High achievement is also clearly evident at the AS level this year with an overall pass rate of 84% on improvement of 3% on results in 2004.
Chief Education Officer, Merfyn Lloyd Jones stated
"These results are excellent and reflect the hard work of students and their teachers over the past two years and they should be justifiably proud of their achievements."
Councillor Arwel Jones, the Lead Member for Education said
"These results are certainly clear evidence of the combined efforts of staff and students and Wrexham can be proud of these achievements."
