'A' Level and 'AS' Level Results 2004
Students in Wrexham schools have gained excellent 'A' level and 'AS' level results again this year maintaining the impressive improvement trend over the last few years.
Although not all the results have been analysed yet, early indications suggest an overall pass rate (A-E) of 97.5% which is an improvement on the final overall pass rate for 2004 and compares very favourably with the national pass rate set at 96.5%.
Nearly three quarters of the students gained higher grade passes (A-C grades) which is very pleasing, and in line with national averages.
High achievement is also clearly evident at the 'AS' level this year with an overall pass rate of just above 81%.
Chief Education Officer, Merfyn Lloyd Jones said:
"These results reflect the hard work of students and their teachers over the past two years and they should be justifiably proud of their acheivements in what are very demanding courses. The results maintain an impressive trend of improvement over the past nine years, since Wrexham County Borough Council's inception in 1996."
