Change of Leadership at Wrexham County Borough Council

Following last night's (Wednesday 9th March, 2005) Full Council Meeting at the Guildhall, Labour member Cllr Neil Rogers resigned as Leader of the Council. The new Leader is Liberal Democrat Cllr Aled Roberts, the member for Ponciau.

Speaking following his appointment, Cllr Roberts said:

"I want to build on the success of the Council since it began in 1996. As councillors we all need to work together regardless of some of the difficulties of the last few months.

"The political situation within the Council remains the same and to achieve success in the future and deliver vital services we need to pull together. There is a vital role for all groups on the Council as we move forward."
