Excellent Results for Sixth Form Students
Students in Wrexham schools have today received excellent A level and AS level results.
Whilst not all the results have been analysed yet, early indications suggest an overall pass rate of 98.1% which is an improvement of 1.3% on the pass rate for 2005. The performance in Wrexham schools is 1.2% above the pass rate for Wales and 1.5% above the UK pass rate.
Nearly two thirds of the students gained higher grade passes (A-C grades).
At AS Level, the overall pass rate is 87.6% which is 0.1% above the pass rate for Wales and the UK and 3% higher than 2005.
The provisional results for the pilot Welsh Baccalaureate award at Ysgol Morgan Llwyd, where all students entered have passed the qualification are extremely positive.
Chief Learning & Achievement Officer, Hywyn Williams said: “These results are very pleasing and reflect the hard work of students and their teachers over the past two years and they should be justifiably proud of their achievements.”
Councillor Arwel Jones, Lead Member for Children and Young People Service said:“These results are encouraging and reflect the drive and determination of Members, Officers and schools to improve achievement. I should like to commend young people for their efforts and congratulate them on their achievements to date and wish them well on their future studies.”
