Wrexham Community Safety Partnership

 

What It Is

Wrexham Community Safety Partnership (CSP) is a statutory organisation that brings together representatives of key agencies to work together to tackle and reduce local levels of crime and disorder.

Who Is Involved

In order to meet the requirement of the act the Wrexham Community Safety Partnership was established in July 1998. Membership presently consists of the following agencies:

  • Wrexham County Borough Council - Corporate Governance - Malcolm Russell (Chair)
  • Wrexham County Borough Council Members - Councillor June Fearnall, Councillor Malcolm King
  • North Wales Police - Eastern Division - Chief Superintendent Phil Thomson (Vice Chair)
  • LHB Chief Executive - Geoff Lang
  • North Wales Probation - Assistant Chief Probation Officer Steve Ray
  • North Wales Fire Service - Senior Fire Officer Paul Whybro
  • North Wales Police Authority - Councillor Ian Roberts

Plus:

A range of other public, voluntary and community organisations involved in specific activities.

What Have Been The Major Benefits To Wrexham?

Over the last 12 months

  • Reduction in Vehicle Crime - 22%
  • Reduction in burglary dwelling - 39%
  • Reduction in Anti-Social Behaviour - 3%
  • Increased detection of drug related crime - 5%
  • Raised awareness about Domestic Abuse - 7%

What is the challenge for 2005-08? (Crime & Disorder Reduction Strategy)

  • 17.5% reduction in overall crime
  • Reduce Violent Crime
  • Reduce the harm caused by drug and alcohol misuse
